Three Frames
2/19/14
This is a picture I took on the plane headed to Cancun. This was my favorite vacation and traveling is one of my favorite things to do.
This is a picture of my favorite day of the entire vacation. It was taken on a remote island called Isla Mujeres. It was a small resort owned by a couple who left everything in America and moved to the islands. They had a very laid back relaxed life and the place had amazing vibes. It was a really neat experience and I would love to go back.
This pictures was taken right before we were about to leave the resort. I was very upset about leaving and I was just taking in the view one last time. It was a bitter sweet moment because it sums up the whole vacation. At the same time it brings back the feelings I had about leaving one of my favorite places. The way the sun was reflecting off the ocean was gorgeous and seemed like a perfect last look at the water.

This was photo was taken from the perspective of a texting driver. The driver is focused on the phone only and everything around him is blurry. This is true for driving and texting because it takes the focus off of the road making this act extremely dangerous. We chose to use this photo because we felt it had a powerful message. People often think they are capable of texting while driving and that they can still be fully aware of their surroundings but this photo gives a good perspective of this situation and how that is not that case. The surroundings are still visible but not clear making it difficult to notice other cars or incidents that require fast reaction time. It also forced the driver to take a hand off the wheel making it even more dangerous. It is rare that you see this perspective it is usually just the phone when you are the one taking part in the act so we decided to zoom out and give a clearer idea of what is really going on.

Hannah and Mikes Rankings for Perspective Photos
5.Sophie and Anna- I liked the idea it was clever. The blurring of the background was a good idea and made it clear I also liked the panorama.
6. Ziona and Hazel- Strong photo I liked how it was unique. The editing was very detailed.
3. Taylor and - I really like the perspective the angle made the picture stronger and I liked how it was black and white.
9. Jesse and Maddy- A little confusing but a good idea. I liked the flies eye concept.
4. Olivia and Pasama- Clever and funny but the editing could have been better.
2. Ashley and Honda - Powerful and clever idea. The editing was very good and clear. Strongest concept.
1. Dan and Anthony- Good idea had a unique take and I liked the editing. The picture was one which looked very clean. Best editing
7.Ricky and Scott- Good idea very simple. Could have angled the lines a little more to make it look more than just lines.
10.Stephanie and Kat- Had a good idea the editing could have been a little different or could have had it be the goalies perspective instead.
11.Damian and Arielle- A little confusing. A good concept but may have found a way to make the meaning a little clearer. Maybe taking the women out and keeping the statue.
8. Ryan and - Good concept I would have taken out the black focus meter makes it a little confusing. I like how the surroundings were blurred. Good theme using sports because you are only focused on that.
4/4/14 Progress on number project (29)
This bottom is very rough but i thought it was interesting because I tried to incorporate 29, UT, hannah, Cimon, FL and NH which are all kind of make up who I am today. I just added field hockey sticks and palm tree because those are two things I love.
This one has a similar idea to the camp one. It is still that scenery but for the 9 I just drew 9 fish in the bucket to make it a little more subtle. Just a different approach.
This was another idea I have is involving the months the two numbers represented. The two represents February so I made a love note with the 2 forming a heart. 9 represents September which is when kids usually go back to school so made the 9 out of school supplies. The top is a compass and the bottom is a ruler.
This photo I am going to incorporate the number 29 and my last name CIMON. I am going to make it look like the beach because that is my favorite place in the world. This photo has the C and 2 together to form half of the trunk of the palm tree. The bottom part of the 2 is going to be a sailboat. As you go across the page you see birds that are going to be the M in my last name. After that I drew a simple tube I plan to develop that into a lifesaver tube. Lastly the sun is a lower case n that looks like it is setting on the horizon.
This photo is going to be scenery from my camp back in New Hampshire. It is our family camp and has been since 1951 so it means a lot to me. The two is the fishing pole and then continues on to form the dock. The tree is cut off and in the shape of a nine. This worked well because there is actually a tree in that exact place at my camp.
These next two are earlier drafts before I came up with the came idea. I was going for something similar and started with a fourth of July theme because we celebrate it at the came and it is very significant to me. I was going to make the 2 part of a road that gets there and the bottom i was going to make the grass or later was thinking the lake. A firework is shooting from the top of the 2 and the 9 is simply a flag. This seemed a little plain so I further developed it into the came ones.
This one is just a little further developing of the CIMON and the 29
This one I did the month february and september because of 2 and 9
8 is my lucky number so i did two clovers one on top of another
I am 20 and field hockey is my favorite sport so i did a field hockey stick for the two blending with the grass and the ball is the 0.
Final Group Project - April 20, 2014
Group Roster:
Taylor Sanger - metaphor image
Hannah Cimon - point of view/double entendre/framing image
Scott Shuman - point of view/double entendre/framing image, and multi-frame/reduction form image
Maddie Lewis - life & death/implied sound image
Sophie Moskowitz - point of view/double entendre/framing image
Synopsis/Common Theme:
Whether it is a scary movie, a romance novel, or just harsh reality - people face antagonists everywhere they go.
Point of View/Double Entendre/Framing
The image on the left is coming from the point of view of an audience watching Scott during a tennis practice. However, in the right image, this audience then becomes a group of witnesses, as Hannah is strikes Scott with a golf club. These two different points of view create a double entendre, and exemplify the importance of framing an image; by adjusting the frame of an image by a little bit, the entire meaning of the piece can change. The picture was taken multiple times to get the best angle, and to create a visually appealing product that is easy to understand. It is an example of man vs. man.

Final:
Multi-frame/Reduction Form
The image is a depiction of earth, wind and fire. The images are basic, along with the shapes within them (playing off of the form reduction). However color is utilized in the image to make it stand out more and flush out the imagery. The image was created several different times, some with color, some without, some vertical and some horizontal. In the end, using color and putting it in a vertical orientation provided the best visual depictions.
Process:
Final:
Metaphor
According to Wikipedia, "'Elephant in the room' is an English metaphorical idiom for an obvious truth that is either being ignored or going unaddressed. The idiomatic expression also applies to an obvious problem or risk no one wants to discuss." The phrase may be a metaphor, however, in our project, it is portrayed literally. Along with this intentional twist is also the fact that this image may be initially perceived as man vs. nature, when in fact, it is actually man vs. man.
Process:
Final:
Life & Death/Implied Sound:
These pictures symbolize life and death as well as sound depicted visually. The life and death is a smiling old man with life in his eyes. It is ironic because he is close to death, considering how old he is. The baby symbolizes life because it is young and has its entire life ahead of it. The baby is screaming which visually implies sound, while it also shows sadness and a little bit of "death" inside. The crying baby has harsh colors in the background and low light to represent dim and gloom. The old man is in focus with cool colors in the background to center his joy. This finished product is also man vs. man, because people can make other people both laugh and cry. The process for this image consisted of finding the best photos to make the implied sounds easily understood, and to put them together in a way that flowed and matched. Placing them next to each other was much more appealing than stacking them on top of each other.

Self & Peer Evaluation
Taylor Sanger - A Scott Shuman - A Sophie Moscowitz - A
Maddie Lewis - A Myself - A
I think everyone deserved an A because we split everything up evenly. Everyone took care of their own section and we all met up and consulted. It was not hard to get everyone together because we were all on the same page. We each came to an agreement after a lot of consulting on what to do and it was no problem meeting outside of class. Everyone cooperated and put forth a significant amount of effort and their opinion on what they thought would work best.
